Frequently Asked Questions: Door & Gate Replacement Parts
Essential engineering notes regarding universal Form-C relay wiring, low-voltage power supply matching, and fail-safe safety circuit integration.
What does "Universal Form-C Dry Contact" mean for replacement parts?
A Form-C dry contact relay provides three isolated terminals: Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), and Common (COM). Because these switch terminals carry no voltage of their own, they can act as a simple switch for any door controller circuit—allowing our sensors and switches to integrate with almost any brand operating on low-voltage signal loops.
Are these replacement components compatible with both AC and DC power supplies?
Yes. Most of our active sensors and detectors feature wide-range onboard rectifier circuits accommodating 12–24V AC/DC inputs. This eliminates polarity errors and ensures stable operation whether powered directly by an opener’s auxiliary terminal or an independent external step-down transformer.
How do I determine whether my safety loop requires a Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) sensor?
Standard industrial and commercial entrapment protection loops use Normally Closed (NC) wiring for fail-safe operation—if a wire breaks or power drops, the circuit opens and halts the door. Activation devices (like push buttons and radar triggers) typically use Normally Open (NO) terminals to send a momentary pulse. Refer to your opener’s manual or terminal silkscreen to verify the terminal behavior.
What should I do if a replacement radar or light curtain experiences crosstalk?
Crosstalk occurs when multiple sensors operate on identical optical or microwave frequencies in close proximity. Our light curtains and microwave radars include selectable internal frequency channels (DIP switches). Simply toggle adjacent units to different channel frequencies to eliminate interference and false trigger cycles.
